The director of the Berisso Cemetery, Leonel Gallinellipresented the “indeclinable” resignation from his position through a letter addressed to the mayor Fabian Cagliardi in which he argued his decision due to the “underfunding” suffered by the property for a year, which translates into a lack of resources for works, maintenance and appointment of personnel.

Gallinelli had been in office since December 2019 and assured in the letter that when he took office he believed that “another Berisso was possible” but that the lack of interest of the communal chief in the Cemetery did nothing more than “degrade and wear down” the expectation with which had assumed in the municipal cabinet. The official thus added another casualty to the Cagliardi team that, a few months ago, suffered the resignation of the Undersecretary for Security, Néstor Epeloa, a hot portfolio for management due to the wave of crimes that have been occurring in the district.

In the letter, the now ex-official explained that there are two main reasons for his resignation: on the one hand, “the underfunding” of the sector since, he specified, “no materials for maintenance or works have been received for a year. namely, the development and completion of the area for pets as well as the sector for little angels, all projects aimed at strengthening the management and relationship with the community”.

Secondly, he mentioned the “non-replacement of retired or transferred personnel” which means that there are 16 fewer workers. “To this is added the work carried out by a cooperative assigned to the cutoff, which was never replaced in the different areas,” he specified and highlighted the predisposition of the current staff to replace the tasks of the workers who are not there and reminded Cagliardi that in the pandemic the property “never stopped working”.

“Mr. Mayor, no one better than you to understand with what enthusiasm and energy we started this process in 2019, deeply believing that another Berisso was possible. What was stated above did nothing but degrade and wear down this enthusiasm and that expectation,” said Gallinelli. in the last paragraph of his resignation, while thanking him for having been summoned to the position at the time but remarking that it is “impossible for him to continue in this role under these conditions.”

In a post on his Facebook account, Gallinelli also wrote about his decision and assured: “Because I have principles and values, I can NOT be tied to a salary.”
