A Apple and Google have announced a partnership to combat the abuse of Bluetooth locators such as AirTags or Tiles that, in some cases, can be used to harass people.
A submitted proposal for the two technologies it seems to have already been accepted by Samsung, Tile, Chipolo, Anker and Pebblebee, as well as several organizations that work in this area. The proposal in question includes instructions on how to implement “unwanted location detection alerts” on both iOS and Android.
It is worth remembering that, since Apple launched the first AirTags in 2021, it has focused on introducing features that aim to combat harassment and unwanted location. Even so, this remains a problem with this type of device and which Apple and Google are committed to combating.
