Augmented reality is taking time to materialize at Apple. The firm would have postponed the announcement of its project at WWDC in June.

Will come out, won’t come out? Apple Glass mixed reality glasses have been rumored for many years now and the firm still hasn’t lifted the lid on this big project. We find the trace on Frandroid from 2016.

A true Arlesian of the tech world, Apple’s mixed reality glasses seem to have made good progress in their development since rumors agreed on a presentation from the start of 2023. The weeks go by and Apple does not yet announces no conference.

Journalist Mark Gurman thinks he now has the firm’s new calendar: the announcement would take place at WWDC in June.

A great revolution in the making?

On Bloomberg, we can thus read that Apple has postponed its event from April to June 2023, which corresponds to its opening conference of WWDC, the event dedicated each year to developers. We expect at this conference the presentation of the next version of iOS or macOS, but it is the new realityOS that should be the main attraction.

This is a crucial moment when Apple will have to convince of the relevance of its ideas against the Meta Quest Pro or the Vive XR Elite to embark application developers on its adventure. The firm is expected at the turn for its ability to disrupt product categories as it was able to do with the smartphone (iPhone) or more recently headphones (AirPods).

Apple’s headset is rumored to be particularly overpriced. There is talk of an estimated price of $3,000 for this headset, which would make it one of Apple’s most expensive products to date along with its Mac Pro. We are necessarily impatient to see what the firm will be able to integrate as technology for such a price.

Mark Gurman explains that if the presentation date can still be moved, Apple does aim to unveil and market its glasses before the end of 2023. The firm could also present its large MacBook Air at the same event.
