Apple is reportedly working on an AI-powered health coaching service. Dubbed Quartz internally, this service would use AI and data collected by the Apple Watch to offer personalized programs.

Will artificial intelligence soon replace health and sports coaches? Several professions are already threatened by advances in AI. Apple, which won its lawsuit against Epic over the Fortnite ban, would like to try to replace health coaches with its own service. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman actually claims that Apple would develop an AI-powered health coaching service that users could consult directly on their iPhone.

Boosted by AI, this health coaching service would be called Quartz internally. His mission would be to motivate users, encourage them to exercise, sleep better and improve their eating habits daily. This new service could land next year, but it could also be delayed or even canceled, according to Mark Gurman. Quartz would therefore not be introduced with iOS 17. It is the next major iPhone update expected for September 2023 alongside the new iPhone 15.

Apple reportedly plans to launch its health coaching service as a subscription

Apple’s health coaching service would be developed internally by several teams. These teams are also working on Siri, AI and health at Apple. As for how Quartz works, the service would use AI and data collected by the Apple Watch. It would analyze this data to come up with personalized programs.

Users could therefore follow health coaching programs specially designed for their needs. Mark Gurman also expects monthly fees apply for using Quartz. We don’t have more information about this health coaching service yet. The little we have, however, confirms again that Apple is betting on the health of users.

In addition to the Health application available on the iPhone, the Cupertino company would also like improve the well-being of its users with its mixed reality headset whose autonomy will be incredible. The first AR / VR headset from Apple, which should be announced in June at WWDC23, would thus offer meditation sessions. Finally, Mark Gurman also announced in his report that Apple would have planned to launch the Health app on the iPad.
