English actor Julian Sands was identified as one of two hikers missing in the San Gabriel Mountains in California (USA).

The actor known for his appearance in films such as “Naked Lunch” (1991) and “A Room With a View” (1985), has been wanted by the authorities and a rescue team since Friday, when he was reported missing, according to a statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff picked up by local media.

While the actor is currently being searched for via drones and helicopters, avalanche risks and dangerous trail conditions have hampered the search on the ground.

However, it is hoped that once the weather and security conditions improve, field investigations can be resumed.

Meanwhile, on the official Facebook page of the County Sheriff, the authorities called on all hikers -even experts- to avoid walks and hikes in the Mount Baldy area due to the high risk of facing an accident.

“Over the past four weeks, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SAR) teams have responded to 14 missions in and around Mt Baldy,” the text states.

“These rescue missions have been for lost, stranded and/or injured hikers. Unfortunately, during these past 4 weeks, two hikers did not survive after falling and injuring themselves,” the document states.

“The snow has turned to ice, making the hikes extremely dangerous,” the statement said. The truth is that this mountainous area is very popular among hikers and is only an hour’s drive from downtown Los Angeles.

Along with the English actor, who lives in North Hollywood, authorities are also separately looking for a Hathorne resident named Bob Gregory in the Crystal Lake area of the San Gabriel Mountains.

Gregory’s relatives indicated that after his disappearance last Monday, they are “distressed” and “fear that he was hurt and fell.” The police, in turn, began the process of tracking down his cell phone.

So far no representative of the actor has given any testimony in this regard.

Two days after Sands was declared missing, Crystal Paula Gonzalez-Landas, known as the “Hiking Queen,” slipped and died in the area. The woman had been documenting her adventure on her Facebook account.

Sands was born on January 4, 1958 in Otley, West Yorkshire (England) and his career has been marked by film and television projects.

Among his outstanding works is the film “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” (2011), Jackie Chan’s action comedy “The Medallion” (2003), as well as his participation in series such as “Smallville” or “The L Word ”.

He was married to the journalist Sarah Harvey, from whom he divorced in 1987 and with whom he had a son. Three years later, he married the writer Eugenia Citkowitz, a relationship that gave him two daughters.
