The Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, described the activity of attention to the population as a matter of vital importance, however, the results of 2022 reveal serious deficiencies in the response and solution of the problems raised by citizens.

During a meeting with officials from the Department of Attention to the Population of the Palace of the Revolution, it was learned that a total of 684,976 cases received through various channels were attended to, according to a report from the official newspaper. Granma.

The main claims include householdsland, medical attentiondelay in action against illegalities and lack of water.

In addition, there were complaints about the blackouts, difficulties in buying basic necessities in stores belonging to the Caribe and Cimex chains, and discontent over pension amounts and the high prices of basic products and services.

The head of the Department of Attention to the Population of the Palace of the Revolution, María del Carmen Cedeño Rodríguez, highlighted some factors that affect the development of this work.

He blamed the personnel in charge of responding to the population’s claims and branded them as insensitive, lacking in humanism and professionalism. He also recognized that late and insufficient responses to the proposals are given. and that there are deficiencies in the attention to the most vulnerable segments of the population.

In addition to these human deficiencies, structural, technological and material difficulties were identified that hinder the development of the work of attention to the population. The lack of a single computer system at the national level that facilitates interaction between citizens and authorities, as well as obtaining responses and information online, was recognized.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to overcome the bureaucracy that still prevails in procedures and the importance of establishing efficient work systems to guarantee the constitutional mandate to serve and respond to the people. However, the results presented in this balance show that much remains to be done in this regard.

These deficiencies in the attention to the population reflect the lack of efficiency and response capacity of the Cuban Government in the face of the needs and concerns of its citizens. It is essential that the Cuban authorities seriously and responsibly assume the constitutional obligation to attend to and solve the problems of the population, establishing efficient and transparent mechanisms that guarantee true attention and response to citizens. Only in this way can a more just and prosperous society be built for all Cubans.
