Winter is just beginning and the National Meteorological System (SMN) of Mexico reported temperatures below 15°C in the northern region of the country, during the past weekend.

The cold wave was the product of an arctic mass that descended towards the US, extending to Mexican territory.

On the other hand, the frontal system No. 19 extends over the Caribbean Sea, without affecting Mexico. The arctic air mass that gave it a boost will begin to modify its thermal characteristics, however, it will keep the environment very cold with frosts during the early hours of Wednesday over entities of the Mesa del Norte and the Mesa Central, in addition to fog banks in the Sierra Madre Oriental, center and southeast of the Mexican Republic.

The new cold front will extend over the northwest of the Mexican Republic, it will be associated with a polar trough, causing showers and heavy punctual rains in said region, as well as strong gusts of wind in the northwest and north of the national territory. Likewise, conditions will be presented for the fall of sleet or snow in the mountains of Sonora and Chihuahua starting Wednesday night and during the early hours of Thursday.

On the other hand, the ingress of moisture from the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea will cause rain and showers in the south and southeast of the country, as well as in the Yucatan Peninsula.
