The president of Arajet, Víctor Pacheco, assured that the fares for flights to and from the Dominican Republic cost US$400 before September of last year and now with the entry of the low-cost airline the fares have been democratized, lowering to the US $275 in roundtrip fares including tax.
“Wherever Arajet flies, we can say that the price of that route has been democratized one hundred percent, selling the same section for $174, including taxes. It begins to feel that the Arajet effect is a reality,” Pacheco told RNN’s Dominicana Buenas Noches.
Pacheco also emphasized that although the rates are low, the good customer service remains. “When we were creating the Arajet product, we thought about the warm service that has made us famous, our crew members have that characteristic of good treatment so that the trip is pleasant and they feel at home.”
Regarding the open skies with the United States, Pacheco expressed his confidence that this would further lower the costs of air tickets. “I feel that the Government is an actor for open skies and I also feel that, politically, there is a unification here, because I have also heard people from the opposition who want the treaty. Open skies means no monopoly, market opening”, explained the CEO.
By the end of this year, Arajet will operate 20 destinations in 15 countries in the Americas. The airline offers flights to Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Canada, Aruba, St. Maarten, Curacao, Ecuador, Jamaica, Brazil, Chile and now Argentina.

This route becomes a milestone for these markets, since it is the first time that these two cities are connected. The route will operate three weekly frequencies with starting rates from USD $563.48 including taxes, round trip; or one way $USD 314.94. Prices only include a personal suitcase up to 6 kg.
