The real estate market in Hancock Park, California, has been in the news recently because a mansion that in the past belonged to the American filmmaker and magnate was put up for sale howard hughes.
The property entered the market at a cost of $23 million dollars. Currently the place belongs to Ash and Niroupa Shah, who bought the mansion in 2011 and invested several thousand dollars in its renovation.
It seems that the couple wanted to turn the property into a cohesive space, since originally the space that was for the property owners and the one for the employees was marked. This information was shared by Shah himself to ‘Wall Street Journal’.
Originally the place was built in 1926 under the design of architect Roland E. Coate.
Today the place has little to do with the house that Hughes lived in; however, his story remains valid.
This property was the first home of the film producer and his wife, Ella. both moved after Hughes won his first Oscar in 1928 for the movie ‘Two Arabian Knights’. Before moving into the mansion, the couple had been living at the Ambassador Hotel.
The billionaire businessman lived in the place for 14 years and it was during that time that he produced two of his biggest movie hits: ‘Hell’s Angels’ and ‘Scarface.’ He also broke the record for the fastest flight around the world and was in a relationship with actress Katharine Hepburn.
At the moment the house offers an extension of 10,179 square feet distributed in eight rooms, 12 bathrooms, lobby, living room, main room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room and other amenities.
Renovations include the addition of a movie theater and a 2,500-bottle wine cellar.
Outside there are green areas with a terrace, swimming pool, spa area, dining room and other ideal spaces to enjoy the outdoors with family or friends.
