FromSoftware games are timeless classics that are played for years and continue to conquer the hearts of gamers, generation after generation. It is also the case with Dark Souls 3which many years after its launch inspired a group of modders to create Archthronesa mod that looks like a real DLC.

Presented as a prequel mod to Dark Souls 3, Archthrones is designed to offer a complete overhaul of character level progression with new maps, enemies, bosses, stories and non-player characters complete with English language voice acting. The mod, which in terms of impact, quantity of contents and ambitions can easily be combined with a real DLC, is been in development for two and a half years and, although it is not yet ready to be published (free of charge, as assured by the creators), it has returned to show itself with a very rich gameplay showcase fifteen minutes long.

The collective of developers, promoter of a fundraising campaign on PatreonYes is clearly inspired by Demon’s Souls for the creation of the five worlds of Archthrones, linked together by an area called the Nexus of Embers (a rework of the Firelink Shrine from Dark Souls 3). However, the gameplay showcase also betrays other sources of inspiration, such as Sekiro, Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 himself. Seeing is believing, find the movie at the beginning of the news.
