Florian Silbereisen sings a real classic with Beatrice Egli on ARD. But the text is changed. This causes trouble for viewers of the “big hit farewell”.
Leipzig – On Saturday evening, Florian Silbereisen welcomed the ARD viewers to another big hit gala. It got quite emotional, after all, “The Great Schlager Farewell” was celebrated by Mallorca legend Jürgen Drews. But the program did not only provide positive moments for the viewers.
Silbereisen show causes trouble for fans
Even before the show, the guest list of Silbereisen’s “Schlagerabschied” caused an outcry. The accusation: not only that the same guests would always appear in every Silbereisen show, this time there was also the fact that they had very little to do with Jürgen Drews. But other issues came up during the show.
For example, fans online criticized the playback performances of the musicians. In addition, Silbereisen was openly asked on his Instagram page why he gave the impression with his postings that the ARD show was being broadcast live when it had been recorded months ago. In addition, a Silbereisen stumble caused a sensation.
Florian Silbereisen: An all-rounder
Born: 1981
First TV appearance: 1991 in Karl Moik’s “Musikantenstadl” as a musician
First own TV show: “Mit Florian, Hut und Wanderstock” on MDR in 2002
First fixed ARD moderation: “Festivals of folk music in 2004
Singer: Part of the trio Klubbb3 from 2015 to 2018
Actor: Since 2019 in the ZDF series “Das Traumschiff” as Captain Max Parger
The appearance of Florian Silbereisen and Beatrice Egli was also a real excitement for the fans. The two Schlager stars once again sang the Klaus Lage classic “1000 and one night (Zoom!)” and got very, very close.
But it was not this fact, but rather the sung text that caused astonishment in some viewers. The bone of contention was the second verse of the song. In the Silbereisen-Egli version, the text on ARD read: “Do you remember, we played together”. However, those who know the original 1984 song know that the lyrics here read: “Remember, we played Indians”.
“Are you serious?” Silbereisen-Egli duet triggers an outcry
“Are you serious?” a fan commented on Silbereisen’s Instagram account and continued: “Indians no longer have a place in Klaus Lage’s classic? Too bad, too bad.” Another viewer also has a bad assumption: “It says: ‘Do you remember, we played Indians’ and not ‘played together’ or did the broadcaster ban the word?
On Twitter one also reads on the subject: “Have you seriously changed the line of text ‘Played Indians’ to ‘played together’ in Jürgen’s farewell show in Klaus Lage’s hit???? Shame on you!!!”
It is not clear exactly how the change in text came about. However, it is not the first time that Florian Silbereisen and Beatrice Egli sang this text version of the song. Beatrice and Flori sang the song at the “Schlager des Sommers” in August 2022 – back then in front of the Klaffenbach moated castle. And here, too, Silbereisen sang in the second stanza: “Do you remember, we played together.”
Silbereisen changes the lyrics of “1000 and one night” – not for the first time
But why did you change the text? An obvious assumption: In the summer, a public scandal broke out about a Winnetou children’s book. The Ravensburger publishing house took it off the market because of “playing down clichés”. There was an outcry from fans of the books. ZDF then heated up the topic further. In a Facebook debate, users were asked to stop using the so-called “I-word”. The broadcaster later rowed back, at least partially.
It is therefore quite possible that the text of “1000 and one night” for the Silbereisen-Egli version in the summer was changed against this background. For “The Great Schlager Farewell” this version was possibly simply retained. Sources used: Instagram.com, twitter.com, ard.de
