The case is updated.

The Islamist Arfan Bhatti is charged with complicity in serious terrorism after the mass shooting in Oslo on the night of 25 June last year.

NRK was informed by police prosecutor Børge Enoksen in the Oslo police district.

Two people were killed and 24 injured when 43-year-old Zaniar Matapour fired shots at the London pub in Oslo.

Bhatti was previously charged with complicity in terrorism. Serious terror carries a penalty of 30 years in prison, writes NRK.

Bhatti is also charged with complicity in murder, complicity in attempted murder, terrorist conspiracy and conspiracy to murder.

Recently, it became known that a secret agent from the intelligence service learned about plans for a terrorist attack in Scandinavia six days before the terror attack in Oslo. Enoksen tells NRK that part of the information that has come to light in the media recently forms the basis for the charges.

TV 2 has tried to get in touch with police attorney Enoksen and Bhatti’s defender Svein Holden on Saturday afternoon. They have not yet responded to our inquiries.

Bhatti has previously denied having anything to do with the shooting incident.

Wanted

Bhatti has been internationally wanted after the mass shooting. On 26 September he was arrested by Pakistani police. He traveled to Pakistan shortly before the shooting.

The police believe he is still in Pakistan, and are now working to have him extradited to Norway. Matapour and Bhatti are said to have known each other since 2015.

Bhatti is one of four accused in what the police believe was a planned terrorist attack in Oslo. In addition to Bhatti and Matapour, two other men are charged in the case.

Only one of them has explained himself to the police.
