Mexico City.- Armed men stopped trucks carrying miners in Caborca, Sonora, drove through the units and set them on fire.

This occurred in the northern area of ​​the entity at the height of the El Sahuaro ejido. The buses transported workers from the company Grupo Jari Picachos, from the Fresnillo mine.

According to sources, the employees finished their shift and went home, when they were intercepted by a group of individuals who forced them to descend with weapons in hand.

They asked the drivers to go through the vehicles and then doused them with gasoline to set them on fire.

The flames from the vehicles are already forming columns of black smoke visible in the distance.

The Sonora State Attorney General’s Office stressed that this fact is not related to the capture of drug trafficker Ovidio Guzmán and reported that there were no injuries.

“No injured people were reported. It is important to emphasize that, according to the #MesaDeSeguridad, what happened in #Caborca ​​is not related to the events registered after the arrest of Ovidio Guzmán,” he reported on social networks.

“In recent days, there was knowledge of a probable extortion attempt against this same company, which was urged to file a complaint, which has not been received so far, a fact that is already being investigated in coordination with the three warrants. #Government,” he added.

Also, this Thursday, but in the south of the state, there was a blockade on the Federal Highway of Sonora that leads from Cajeme to Navojoa, at the junction to the Ciudad Obregón airport.

Gunmen attacked a trailer with bullets and set it on fire. In this event, one person was injured.
