Former President Donald Trump, Republican candidate for the upcoming November elections, stated that he will carry out the largest deportation operation in the history of the United States if he is re-elected.
In an interview with the newspaper Timethe businessman emphasized the need to address what he considers “an unsustainable migration crisis for the country”, making use of the police, the Army and without ruling out the creation of detention camps for immigrants.
“We have no choice,” declared Trump, who frequently criticizes the massive arrival of immigrants and their admission at the borders.
“Probably 15 million and maybe even 20 million by the time Biden comes out. Twenty million people, many of them from jails, many of them from prisons, many of them from mental institutions,” he said.
He said that, for example, Venezuela and other countries, are becoming much safer, suggesting that “the criminals” have emigrated.
In this regard, he pointed out that the country already has a new category of crime, called “migrant crime.”

Trump also addressed the issue of immigration detention camps, noting that although he does not rule out the possibility of building new ones, he hopes it will not be necessary due to the intention to transport immigrants out of the country.
Regarding the collaboration of state and local police departments, Trump suggested the possibility of offering funding incentives from the federal government for those who decide to participate in the operation; although he acknowledged that probably not all states in the country will support it.
He said the operation will be based on one carried out in the 1950s by Dwight Eisenhower, who carried out a mass deportation of people. “He was doing it for a long time. He became very skilled at it. He would take them across the border. And they would be back in the country in a matter of days,” he recalled.
“We have to do whatever it takes to stop the problem that we have. Again, we have a significant force that is building in our country, when you see that in the last three weeks, 29,000 people arrived from China, and they are all of age of fight, and they are mostly men. Yes, we have to do what we have to do to stop crime and to stop what is happening on the border,” he stressed.
During the proselytizing campaign for his previous candidacy, where he was elected president of the United States, Trump also raised an anti-immigrant speech.
In November of last year he also put immigration at the center of his political speech again, announcing a radical approach to his immigration policy if he were elected president again in 2024.
Regarding the border between the United States and Mexico, Trump expressed his intention to restore policies to disqualify the majority of immigrants seeking asylum and accelerate their deportation.
These measures include the so-called “Remain in Mexico” policy and agreements that allow the United States to redirect asylum seekers to third countries, as well as broad restrictions on asylum eligibility. Trump also mentioned the possibility of reviving Title 42 to expel migrants for public health reasons, including unaccompanied children.
