Aston Martin hires former Ferrari technical director

PARIS.- The day after the announcement of the departure “with immediate effect” of FerrariItalian engineer Enrico Cardile signed for the team Aston Martinstarting in 2025, the Silverstone-based team announced on Tuesday.

Technical director of the chassis department at Maranello and a Scuderia employee for almost 20 years, Cardile will take up the newly created position of chief technical officer in England, replacing current technical director Dan Fallows.

“I am delighted that we continue to attract world-class talent to our team (…) We are building a formidable team,” said Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll, owner of Aston Martin.

The icing on the cake for the British team in which Spaniard Fernando Alonso races would be to secure the signing of the most reputable engineer in Formula 1, the Englishman Adrian Newey, who will leave Red Bull in the spring of 2025.

Last weekend, on the sidelines of the British Grand Prix, British media reported on advanced negotiations between Aston Martin and Newey, who is also wanted by Ferrari.

Aston Martin, which is aiming to win the world title in the medium term, is constantly strengthening its staff and infrastructure.

Since Stroll bought the team in 2021, the number of employees at the Silverstone factory has grown from 300 to 850 and two new buildings are due to open in the coming months, one of which will house a state-of-the-art wind tunnel.

France calculates its growth due to the Olympics:

The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will bring an additional 0.3 percentage points of growth to the French economy in the third quarter, the statistics office Insee estimated on Tuesday.

Ticket sales and broadcasting rights should contribute 0.25 points, with the remainder coming from tourism and bonuses for civil servants, the official body said in its latest note.

The total growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) between July and September would be 0.5%, indicated the Insee, whose projection for the whole of 2024 is an expansion of 1.1%.

The impact of the Games on the economy would be similar to that of London 2012, which boosted GDP by between 0.2 and 0.4 points in the third quarter of 2012, with total growth of 1%.
