Asus announces its new range of high-end gaming PCs with a 13th generation Intel processor and the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX cards.
A few hours after Intel’s announcements, we see the first PCs equipped with the 13th generation of mobile processors from the blue manufacturer appear at CES 2023. This is the case at Asus which – among others – unveiled the ROG Zephyrus M16 GU604. As the name suggests, this is the real successor to the Zephyrus M16 GU603 from 2021 and not just a refresh.
All high-end components
The idea behind the Zephyrus M16 is to offer the best of what can be found on the very high end, both for a gaming experience and for content creation. In addition to its Intel Core i9-13900H processor, we find on board the latest GeForce RTX 4090 from Nvidia (freshly announced in Las Vegas) and up to 64 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM. For storage, count up to 2 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.
On the screen side, it is a 16-inch QHD + panel occupying 92% of the surface of the hood. Two technologies are available: simple IPS or mini LED, with, in both cases, a refresh rate of 240 Hz, a response time of 3 ms, full coverage of the DCI-P3 spectrum and support for Dolby Vision. G-Sync compatibility is obviously there. Asus promises a brightness of 500 nits on the IPS panel and an HDR peak of up to 1200 nits on the mini LED panel.
The battery, for its part, is still 90 Wh, which allowed us to last 7 hours in office use on the previous model, to be recharged in USB Power Delivery (100 W). Finally, note the presence of Wi-Fi 6E and six speakers (4 woofers and 2 tweeters) in addition to the Full HD webcam.
A complete connection
On the left edge of this Zephyrus M16 GU604 there is a USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port, a USB-A 3.2 Gen2 port, an HDMI 2.1 port and an audio jack. On the right, you can connect a USB-C 3.2 Gen2 and a USB A 3.2 Gen2, and insert a microSD card (UHS-II).
As you will have understood, this gaming laptop is not an ultraportable, but it remains in the current average of its congeners. With its 2.1 to 2.3 kg on the scale and its 19.9 to 22.3 mm thickness, it is not the most discreet, but not the worst either.
Zephyrus M16 GU604 price and release date
Obviously, such features are not offered. The Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 GU604 will be available in the first quarter of 2023 from 2799 euros. Pricing details for each configuration are not yet revealed.
