MADRID, 13 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least four people have lost their lives and one more has disappeared after a house in the city of Plum, in the US state of Pennsylvania, exploded this Saturday, Allegheny County authorities have reported.

“So far, the investigators confirm that four people have died and a fifth person is missing,” they have indicated on their account on the X social network, formerly known as Twitter, adding that “any additional information about the victims will be provided by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office”.

Also, three other people have been injured and have been taken to hospital. Two of them have arrived in stable condition and have already been discharged, while the third “remains in critical condition,” according to the district government publication.

The explosion, the causes of which are unknown and remain under investigation, occurred at around 10:23 a.m. (local time) and caused a fire that engulfed two houses, according to county spokeswoman Amie Downs. Other nearby houses have been affected by the shock wave of the explosion, which has caused broken doors and windows.

Local authorities have confirmed that the teams deployed in the area “plan to resume activities on the site on Sunday morning.”
