Washington, Apr 20 (EFE).- At least two people died and some 20,000 residences and businesses were without power in Oklahoma this Thursday due to storms and at least eight tornadoes that affected the central United States in the last few hours.

The emergency office in McClain County (Oklahoma) confirmed that two people had died after the passage of a tornado in the town of Cole.

“It’s reasonable that we would expect more reports of injuries or deaths given the damage we’ve seen,” County Deputy Mayor Scott Gibbons said in an interview with NBC.

The PowerOutage.us platform indicated this morning that at least 19,400 commercial establishments and residences were without electricity in the central region of Oklahoma.

There are power outages in at least three counties, including Cleveland and Gradyy McClain.

On Wednesday night the National Weather Service had issued a severe storm warning for the center of the country including hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes.

Tornado warnings were issued shortly before midnight in parts of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas and Oklahoma.
