On February 11th and 12th, the State Indoor Championships in athletics took place in Linz. Three athletes from our gymnastics team took part.

In the general class, Isabel Posch and Jonas Unterkircher started for the Lustenau Gymnastics Association. Isabel achieved four new personal bests out of five disciplines. She left the competition behind in the 60m hurdles. At 1.69 m, she surpassed her own height for the first time in the high jump. In the long jump, Isabel jumped over the 6m mark twice. She completed the final 800m run in 2:23.98 min. At the end of the day, Isabel not only achieved the state championship title with 4136 points, but also improved the Vorarlberg state record by 115 points! With this mark, the young athlete ranks 5th in Austria’s all-time list of the best.

Jonas Unterkircher also started with a brilliant long jump. The first time he jumped the 7m mark. This great distance was also the best performance of the day. Unfortunately, he fell in the hurdles just before the finish line and had to end the pole vault competition early.

In the course of the state championships, the Austrian championships U20 were also held in the disciplines of throwing and running. Lukas Kürsteiner reached sixth place with 13.33m. He came within 13cm of his personal best.
