Authorities of the Government of El Salvador inaugurated yesterday afternoon the remodeling of the Las Chinamas border facilities, in the department of Ahuachapán.

The inauguration event was attended by the Minister of Public Works, Romeo Rodríguez, the Minister of Security, Gustavo Villatoro, and the Director of Migration, Ricardo Cucalón.

“In these totally comfortable facilities, with air conditioning, with furniture to rest and a play area, we are receiving more than 5 thousand people daily”, said the Director of Immigration.

He added that immigration officials “They will have a space with better conditions.”

In this context, the Minister of Public Works explained that the facilities have a tunnel area where vehicles can enter to carry out migration procedures. He added that all the institutions involved worked together for the renovations, and that now, the procedures are carried out in a more agile way.

In addition, he indicated that an investment of close to $700,000 was made.

“The perimeter fence (150 linear meters) of the border point of Las Chinamas, in Ahuachapán, which was practically falling, was renewed. It was rebuiltor completely, “explained Rodríguez.

While the Minister of Security explained that these results are the “fruit of the articulated work ordered by our President Nayib Bukele”, and that this type of work will continue to be carried out at other border points.
