No less than 13 years after Avatar’s first name, Avatar 2: The Way of Water was distributed to theaters around the world. Released on December 14, 2022, the feature film exceeded $1 billion in revenue less than 2 weeks after its release. For James Cameron, this film was essential to allow Pandora and the Na’vi people to survive on a greater number of episodes. Indeed, the director had said that if his newborn did not exceed two billion dollars in revenue, it would be difficult for him to continue the franchise. But rest assured, the film should well reach its estimated break-even point. In fact, the Canadian filmmaker claimed a few days ago that he had even already achieved it!
With a technique well above most current productions, Lightstorm Entertainment and 20th Century Studios have not skimped on the means. With so many resources in place, the wait around Avatar 2: The Way of Water was more than substantial. So inevitably, some were disappointed, while others were delighted.
