You are currently viewing Netflix: The next price increase is coming

Bad news for streaming fans: Netflix is increasing the price again. These are the details.

Netflix’s next price increase is coming. As always, it starts in the USA and Canada.

The news is annoying and comes as a surprise given that Netflix only raised its prices in spring 2022. It was only in early summer that the company introduced a price increase through the back door by abolishing the “Basic” level and starting a subscription with advertising.

How often will the prices be increased?

A quick refresher on US pricing: the “Basic” plan went from $8.99 to $9.99, the “Standard” plan went from $13.99 to $15.49, and the “Premium” Plan from $17.99 to $19.99 per month.

The Wall Street Journal now has internal documents viewed, revealing the next price increase. When the strike by screenwriters and actors in the USA is over, subscription prices will be increased as a result.

There is still no official end to the strike. But an agreement is expected soon. Last week, the Writers Guild of America and major studios began negotiations to resolve the strike.

“The same plans for other markets”

According to the WSJ report, Netflix plans to allow “a few months” after the strike ends and then officially announce the price increases. It is not yet known how expensive the new subscriptions will be. First, according to the WSJ, prices will be raised in the USA and Canada. There are “similar plans” for the other markets, including Germany.

I just checked: We are currently paying an incredible 22.98 euros for the large family subscription with the best quality. Lately we’ve been watching Netflix less and less. We found the series “Dear Child” good and exciting, but that was almost it. A new price increase would only trigger one thing for us: the cancel button.

What about with you? Which subscription do you have? Would you be willing to pay even more for Netflix?
