Baby dies of suffocation: her parents tested positive for the breathalyzer

Agents from the 33rd police station intervened in the case after receiving an anonymous call from a woman to the 911 system, mentioning that her neighbor was screaming that her baby had died. Meanwhile, volunteer firefighters arrived at the home and transferred the little girl to the Encarnación municipal pediatric hospital.

The officers went to the aforementioned care center and there they were received by the doctor on duty Patricia Chamorro. It stated that at 01:00 this morning one of the firefighters arrived with a 6-month-old baby with no signs of life, in the company of the mother.

In this context, the forensic doctor, Dr. Clyde Núñez diagnosed the cause of death as mechanical asphyxia by bronchial aspiration.

After the fact by provision of the Prosecutor’s Office, it was ordered that the alcohol test be carried out on the parents, yielding results positive with 0.258 MG/L the father and 0.076 MG/L the mother.

In this regard, the interveners continue with the investigations regarding the fact. It is presumed that the baby suffocated while sleeping which the parents realized hours later.
