It’s almost time to say goodbye to Balthazar, the charming and tortured lawyer of TF1. But not before a furious last season in every sense of the word. Camped by a Tomer Sisley in great shape, Balthazar, still on the run, reappears in the heart of Morocco, this Thursday, January 19 from 9:10 p.m. Sheltered by his sociopathic brother, who has framed him for murder, he learns that his friends Camille (Constance Labbé), Delgado (Yannig Samot), and Olivia (Caterina Murino) have been dismissed from their jobs after the fiasco of his escape. He is ready to take all the risks for them. Constance Labbe and Tomer Sisley have agreed to come back, together, to the end of this great adventure. And the teasing between them is unmistakable!

“The idea of this season 5 was to reconnect with the DNA of Balthazar

Tele-Leisure : Comedy, action, dark investigations, have the cursors been pushed to the limit for this last season?
Tomer Sisley
: Don’t look at me, answer (He smiles).
Constance Labbe : The police intrigues were always far, in all the directions. It’s always quite original, that’s what I like. In this season, the personal lives of Balthazar and Camille are at the center of the plot. This aspect is pushed very far. I like the evolution of their relationship, going from friends in season 4, to something almost fraternal, especially through the fact that they will live together.
TS : The sliders have indeed been pushed again. The idea of this season 5 was to reconnect with the DNA of Balthazar, his solar side in a rather joyful series, even when it deals with dramatic subjects. The fourth season was still quite dark.

Where is your character at the start of the season?
CL
: Camille is at the bottom of the rack personally, because she lied to her son whom she no longer sees, and professionally, because she screwed up an investigation and lost her friend. At the start of season 5, she lets herself go, she was laid off and no longer works. Luckily Balthazar is back.
TS : Balthazar is on the run and is hiding to better come back.

What awaits your character in this final season?
CL
: Camille is going to shit a little and get roughed up. She will have to deal with Balthazar who paces around her apartment and calls her every three seconds. She will have difficult cases to solve. She will also face a questioning in relation to her son, through what happens to Balthazar. Until a tragedy that will make him have a new vision of life.
TS : Balthazar will have to face the mourning of his dear and tender Lise because he finds himself in a situation where he has a baby, who will depend on him or not. The question arises of paternity and what kind of life he can offer this child. Except, how can you be a good father if you’re on the run? To be a good dad, you have to solve all your problems first.

“Balthazar will fall in love”

And love in all this ?
CL
: The brotherly love is there, the love for his son too, but the amorous love is not. At the same time, I’m very happy that, for once, the romantic relationship is not the center of the plot of a female main character. This is not what counts for Camille in this period of her life.
TS : Balthazar will fall in love. We are always in a slightly more fragile position when we are in love.

What will the roommate between your two characters look like?
TS
: It shows Balthazar and Camille as they have rarely been so dumb. There is no limit anymore. They train each other to play pranks. I had a lot of fun playing those scenes.
CL : Me too. We can show things that we can’t do at the police station. Throwing stuff at your head and playing games… A whole intimacy that you can’t develop anywhere else.

Is there one more adult than the other among you?
CL
: It’s obvious and I let you guess which one… What is the definition of being an adult? I’ve been really wondering lately. I hope to stay a bit stupid all the time like a child.
TS : I think you got off to a good start.
CL : You think ? I’m so happy then!

What do you envy of the other?
TS
: To Constance, his good humor.
CL : It’s nice (she smiles). However, I sometimes had lack of good humor during filming. In Tomer, overall his inventiveness, and his persistence, he does not let go, in favor of quality.

And what, on the contrary, annoys you in the other?
CL
: There are two things…
TS : My smell.
CL : Already all her body odors, it’s horrible (she laughs). No, the first thing is that he manages to handle the gun in a way that I’ve never been able to master. In addition, he purposely did it all the time, it pissed me off. And the second thing, on set, he hurt me with a ball during a scene.
TS : Nothing. Constance is exactly as it should be.

Could you be friends with Balthazar? With Camille?
CL
: With Balthazar, yes, but I think I’ll piss him off a bit more. And then, it’s super useful to have a friend like that, who saves all situations. Camille annoys me a little. She’s a little too regular.
TS : Camille annoys me too. I’m glad you said it before me. Balthazar could also get on my nerves, it’s all about the dosage.

“The most difficult thing for me was above all the fact of having chosen to stop”

Was there a particular atmosphere on the set of this last season?
CL
: On the last day, obviously I was sad. But otherwise, once we’re in the work, we don’t think too much about the fact that we’re shooting the last season. Sometimes I thought to myself ‘enjoy’, but it’s impossible to think about it all the time. What is sad is to leave the people with whom you want to continue working.
TS : Obviously there was a bit of melancholy at the end. The most difficult thing for me was above all the fact of having chosen to stop and suddenly to impose it on others who, themselves, suffer it. It’s not the most comfortable position I’ve found myself in.

What will you miss about this adventure?
CL
: Playing with Tomer.
TS : Oh, that’s nice. I also loved shooting with Constance, seeing her every day on set. Yes, these are the playing partners, obviously. We were in the same boat, a rather special boat because of the rhythms of filming, and a certain requirement on the set. Inevitably, it brings people together and it creates special links that are rarely found elsewhere.

What are your next shooting projects?
CL
: I shot in Black track where I play a policeman. I also acted in a film by Pascal Thomas, A few more moments of happiness.
TS : I am in full preparation of Wide 3 that we start shooting at the beginning of February 2023. I have just finished the post-production of a film that I co-produced, Like my soninspired by a true story of a thug who found himself forced to go on the run with a 6-year-old child who was not his.
