FC Barcelona has not given up hope of a transfer from Ilkay Gündogan. As the ‘Telegraph’ report, the Blaugrana have expressed a concrete interest in the central midfielder, whose contract with Manchester City expires at the end of the season. Barça’s focus for potential summer signings is on free transfers given their horrendous debt.

According to the English newspaper, N’Golo Kanté (31, Chelsea FC) is therefore still a candidate in Catalonia. The defensive midfielder’s working paper also expires in the summer. With a view to Gündogan’s future, it is unclear whether the 32-year-old will extend his contract with the Citizens or whether he will open a new chapter in his career in the summer.

Gündogan was already an issue at Barça last summer. Ultimately, the La Liga club brought on another central midfielder in Franck Kessié (26).
