A couple from Hendaye were indicted and placed in pre-trial detention this Friday after the suspicious death of their two-month-old baby girl on Wednesday at the CHU Pellegrin in Bordeaux.

The unimaginable seems to have happened in Hendaye (Pyrénées-Atlantiques). A couple was indicted on Friday as part of an investigation for willful violence having killed without intention to kill, after the suspicious death of their two-month-old child on Wednesday, tell us South West and France Blue.

Called Tuesday to take care of a two-month-old baby at home, the Samu discovered the girl in critical condition, her face and skull covered with bruises. Subsequent examinations also revealed a head trauma.

The infant finally succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday evening, at the CHU Pellegrin in Bordeaux.

Aged 20 and 18 respectively, the father and mother were quickly placed in police custody in the premises of the Bordeaux judicial police, before being transferred to Bayonne. They are now on trial.

“Pure and harsh abuse”

After having denied, the man recognized “involuntary gestures in the context of games or care” according to the words of the deputy prosecutor at the Bayonne prosecutor’s office Caroline Parizel, relayed by South West.

The companion claims for her part that she does not know if she has had “dangerous gestures”. While the couple lives with the mother of the young woman, the latter claims to have seen nothing.

The autopsy is, according to a source close to the investigation contacted by South West“overwhelming”, concluding with “a violent death with the intervention of a third party” following a head trauma.

“We are beyond the shaken baby syndrome, noted Caroline Parizel. It is pure and hard abuse, at a very high level”.

Unknown to the police until then, they were indicted on Thursday for “intentional violence resulting in death without intention to give it” and placed in pre-trial detention. The young woman was also indicted for failure to assist a person in danger.
