Apart from the change of coach, defeats and cabin fights, there is actually good news for Bayern. Loan player Marcel Sabitzer is increasingly convincing at Manchester United.
In yesterday’s 2-2 win over Sevilla in the first leg of the quarter-finals in the Europa League, the 29-year-old midfielder scored a brace in the best of striker style.
Sabitzer has prevailed with the English record champions and now sees himself as “key player” for United. The Austrian also revealed to ‘Sport Bild’ that he wants to stay in Manchester beyond the summer.
Laimer gets Sabitzer’s squad place
That plays into the hands of Bayern. Another midfielder has already been brought in in Konrad Laimer (25/RB Leipzig), so Sabitzer is available. The good thing from FCB’s point of view: United has no purchase option, so the transfer fee in the summer is freely negotiable.
With performances like Thursday evening, Sabitzer drives up his price. A few weeks ago, Bayern were hoping for a transfer fee of at least 20 million euros in the summer. In the meantime, Sabitzer’s value has definitely increased even further. Even if United don’t take him on, the powerful right foot could be lucratively sold elsewhere.
