According to local press reports, the area around the house in the Flemish town of Bourg-Leopold has been cordoned off by the Police, although the alleged culprit was not at home and could not be arrested. The Prosecutor’s Office assures that the wanted person would have left the country although the State security forces continue to actively search for him. The Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation for a threat of terrorist attack.

In the video posted on Facebook, the suspect appears with his face uncovered, dressed in black, with gloves in the middle of a forest and shoots four times at the prime minister’s photo. RTBF, a Belgian medium, assures that the weapon is not the Army’s regulation and would appear equipped with a silencer. Both possibilities have not been confirmed at the moment.

The individual is a former soldier who suffers from psychological problems and who was removed from military service on January 1 of last year for “medical reasons,” according to the same media outlet.
