A truck lost the wheels of the trailer in the middle of the Santiago de Cuba-Guantánamo highway, witnesses of the event reported this Friday.
Images shared in the Facebook group BUSES & TRUCKS ACCIDENTS for more experience and fewer victims! they show the truck with the rear wheels completely detached from the trailer.
The publication does not clarify if there were injuries or others details.
At least 3,620 traffic accidents they occurred in Cuba in the first five months of 2023, with a balance of 290 deaths and 2,807 injuries, and many of them were due to the poor condition of the vehicles and roads on the island, the authorities reported.
Colonel Roberto Rodríguez Fernández, head of the Specialized Traffic Agency of the Police General Directorate, said that the human factor is the main cause of traffic accidents with 90%.
However, many Cubans have died due to the poor condition of the car in which they were traveling or from trying to avoid a pothole on a road.
In April, the case of the young José Ricardo, a resident of Havana, became a local hero after marking dangerous potholes in the streets of the capital with a spray can.
A month before, the young man had suffered an accident on his motorcycle due to one of these potholes that almost cost him his life. In addition to suffering serious injuries, he had to bear the costly repair of his vehicle.
After buying a spray paint, José decided to mark the potholes in an effort to prevent future accidents.
