One drone the size of a glider has become a landing passenger plane on the Warsaw Airport approached to 30 meters. A spokesman for the Polish airline Lot confirmed to the PAP news agency on Sunday that the Air Accident Investigation Commission was investigating the incident.
According to the pilots, the drone, which is around 3 meters long, approached the landing machine around 4 p.m. on Saturday 30 Meter approached. Due to the report by the two pilots, take-off and landing operations at Warsaw Airport were briefly interrupted.
Narrowly escaped catastrophe
The news channel TVN24 had previously reported that the drone had approached two landing machines in a row before operations were interrupted. The planes narrowly escaped disaster.
The pilots of both planes said the drone was just under 2000 feet (600 meters) to have seen. The pilot of the first machine therefore stated that the drone had met the aircraft from the direction of the airport. Where she came from and how she got into the airport area without being noticed by surveillance was unclear on Sunday.
