After the initiators had fought for months to get approval for their campaign, the expensive bill finally arrived. Enno Lenze and Wieland Giebel are now to pay a fine of 806.20 euros for using 43.08 square meters of road land. The wrecked tank was parked on the central promenade Unter den Linden for four days. As the “BZ Berlin” states, the bill is due to the special use of the asphalt by the tank.

Initiator about fines: “I had overlooked the fees”

“I had overlooked the fees on page four of the permit,” said Lenze in an interview with the “BZ” and further: “At the time we were already in a 1000-page dispute with the district.” The tank wreck parked in Berlin at the end of February is currently presented in several cities in the Netherlands.

The initiators of the action said that on March 31, during the Russian army attack on Kiev, the tank hit a mine and was destroyed by the explosion. Soldiers probably died in it. They belonged to a tank unit stationed far in eastern Russia. The Military History Museum of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense lent the tank and also supported its transport.
