A plane from the United States Air Force (USA Air Force) landed at Mexico City International Airport (AICM) with an advance of supplies and personnel from President Joe Biden, who is attending the North American Leaders Summit , scheduled for January 9 and 10.

Authorities from the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) reported this afternoon the arrival of a first Boeing C17A Globemaster III military plane at the air terminal, where it was later taken to Military Air Base 19, a site that until the past six-year term served as the Hangar of the Presidential General Staff.

The aircraft has been used since the 1990s by the US Air Force as a strategic and rapid transport of both troops and supplies, according to records.

The Air Base, headed by Wing General Miguel Vázquez Espinosa, will be the starting point for the mobilization of furniture, luggage, security personnel and other supplies that will be required by President Biden and his entourage, it was reported.

After landing supplies, the Globemaster III aircraft took off after 5:00 p.m. for the United States.

Officials of the Governments of Mexico and the United States are holding a series of meetings at the offices of the Foreign Ministry to refine the details of the meeting that will be held by Presidents Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Joe Biden.

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, who plans to land at the AICM, will also participate in the Summit.

Meanwhile, the United States Secret Service, which is in charge of Biden’s security, is analyzing the proposal that Air Force One land at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), said President López Obrador.

During his morning conference, he insisted on his invitation for Biden, who will travel to the country on January 9, to arrive at the Santa Lucia air terminal instead of doing so in Mexico City.

“We are asking them that the best thing is for the plane to land at the Felipe Ángeles airport,” he said.

The Tabasqueño indicated that the idea that Biden arrived at AIFA is for a political and not logistical consideration, because if he arrives through the capital’s air terminal, his opponents will use the fact to attack him.

The North American Leaders Summit is the highest level forum that Mexico, the United States and Canada have, which was established in 2005 and has served to make the region the most competitive and dynamic in the world.
