Redacción.- The president of the United States, Joe Biden, spoke in a telephone call this Saturday with the leaders of France, Germany and the United Kingdom to discuss “the situation in Russia” after the declaration of armed rebellion by Wagner’s mercenaries against Moscow and they affirmed “their unwavering support for Ukraine.”

“President Biden spoke today with President Emmanuel Macron of France, Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany, and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of the United Kingdom. The leaders discussed the situation in Russia. They also affirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine,” a White House statement noted.

For his part, the US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd J. Austin III, held a telephone call today with the defense ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom to discuss the issue.

“The United States will remain in close coordination with allies and partners as the situation continues to develop. Secretary Austin also reiterated that the United States’ support for Ukraine will not change,” a statement detailed.

In addition, earlier on Saturday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke in a phone call with G7 foreign ministers and the European Union (EU) High Representative to discuss “the current situation in Russia ».

In another statement, the White House noted that national security teams briefed both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris “about the latest developments in Russia” and that both “will continue to receive information throughout the day.”

Biden is at his Camp David residence and, according to the US press, the National Security adviser, Jake Sullivan, who has canceled a visit to Denmark after what happened in the last few hours in Russia, has also been there.

The Wagner Group, which led an armed rebellion in Russia this Saturday, has begun to withdraw its forces from the city of Rostov-on-Don, after reaching an agreement with the Russian authorities, Russian agencies report.

Wagner’s militiamen have already left the territory of the Russian army headquarters located in that city, which they had taken today “without a shot”, according to the statements of the head of the group, Yevgueni Prigozhin.

Prigozhin “will go to Belarus,” the Kremlin announced when commenting on the details of the agreement with the man who led an armed rebellion against the Russian military leadership for the last 24 hours.
