The European Film Academy offers its help so that the Seville Festival is not postponed

Seville, Aug 8 (EFE).- The European Film Academy (EFA) has offered to the direction of the Seville Film Festival so that this year’s edition is held as usual in November and is not postponed to spring, as the City Council has announced, citing the coincidence in dates with the Latin Grammys gala.

In a letter to the Andalusian Film Academy, the EFA points out that it highly values ”its association with the Seville European Film Festival and for years our collaboration has been mutually fruitful and cordial” and points out that “there have been moves to delay the festival to a different date in April of next year.

For this reason, they lend their support for a “reduced” edition to be held this year on the usual date of November and they say that they hope that in this way “the festival can maintain its important contribution to European and Spanish cinema”.

The letter, to which EFE has had access this Tuesday, has been sent to the president of the Andalusian Film Academy, Marta Velasco, and is signed by the president of the European academy, Mike Downey, the director, Matthijs Wouter Knol and the member of the board of directors, the Spanish Antonio Saura.

Precisely, today, the mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, meets with representatives of the Andalusian audiovisual sector to address the controversy caused by the announcement of the postponement of the festival. EFE
