The Toulouse rapper duo is launching a competition intended to shine the spotlight on emerging artists.

Rappers Bigflo & Oli intend to launch their musical “springboard” in the coming months, a competition reserved for young artists from Toulouse which will notably allow the winners to perform at their festival, they announced at a press conference on Tuesday.

“We’ve been on it for years, we want to do it (…) We’re supposed to finally have our springboard in a few months,” said Florian Ordonez, known by the stage name Bigflo in the duo of rapper brothers from the pink City.

A benefit and a check

If the terms of participation in the competition still seem unclear, the two artists assured that the winners would be invited to play during their festival, the Rose festival, scheduled for September 1 to 3 for its second edition. They should also win a check, the amount of which has not been specified.

“I wanted there to be a ‘cash price’ because I know that when you start, you struggle. The first springboard we won was a check for 1000 euros on invoice and thanks to that , we were poor but we were able to afford a computer”, explained Bigflo.

“Un beau jury”

The competition will be reserved for artists “from Toulouse and its surroundings”, added Oli, Olivio Ordonez of his real name, who promises “a beautiful jury” with friends of the two rappers “who are known”.

The rapper brothers wanted to launch this competition already last year, but they had postponed it to focus on the organization of their festival. “This year, if all goes well, there will be the springboard. But it won’t change people’s lives: it’s a small bonus, people shouldn’t expect Bigflo and Oli to join hands and make them pierce by I don’t know what magic,” warned Bigflo.
