Complaints for “incitement to hatred and violence” as well as “discrimination” have been filed by the singer. In particular, they target several far-right movements.

Singer Bilal Hassani and his mother announced on Tuesday that they had filed a complaint for “incitement to hatred and violence” and for “discrimination” after the cancellation of a concert last week in a desecrated church in Metz (Moselle) .

“We filed a complaint against Aurora, a far-right movement, against Civitas and against Discussion nation Metz. It was the latter who made threatening remarks and wanted to carry out violent actions on the day of the concert”, detailed Amina Frühauf , the manager and mother of the artist on the set of “Quotidien”.

They also filed complaints against several other people “who used Twitter to incite hatred”. “We will let things take their course,” continued Bilal Hassani’s mother.

An investigation opened last week

The young singer was to perform last Wednesday in the old Saint-Pierre-aux-Nonnains church. A performance canceled after numerous homophobic threats and calls for violence shared online.

“We wanted to offer shows in atypical, beautiful, cool places (…) Some extremists tried to divert the thing a little and it went to peanuts”, lamented the artist this Tuesday evening on Daily.

An investigation was opened last Thursday by the Metz prosecutor’s office for “threat of offense against anyone because of their sexual orientation”, “provocation to hatred against a person because of their sexual orientation” and “public provocation and not followed by ‘effect to commit a felony or misdemeanour’.
