Bill Gates He is without a doubt one of the most relevant characters of the second half of the 20th century and what we have of this modern era. His legacy as a co-founder of Microsoft and his contributions to society and science are undeniable.
The subject recently has the strange distinction of having been one of the few visionaries who managed to predict the past pandemic years before it happened. But since then he has also become an obligatory reference to reflect on the current course of the world as a community.
Beyond his work in the field of technology, Bill Gates has another extensive career in different fields, where the subject even tends to analyze and recommend his favorite books that he has read throughout each year.
So the deep reflections of a more personal nature are something common in the boy’s daily life. And now, in the most recent of the stories of this type around him, it happens that this subject has become very reflective about what he did not do in his youth and what he spent his energy on.
Bill Gates and his reflection at the wrong time that not everything in life is work
It happens that Bill Gates was invited to give the Graduation speech for the most recent generation of Northern Arizona University graduates.
And there the tycoon reflected deeply on his life, where he confessed that he did not measure the real magnitude of growing up until he was a father and matured due to this and other circumstances:
“I would have liked to know that there is more to life than work. (…) I didn’t believe in weekends. I pushed everyone around me to work long hours.
But they are not lazy if they give themselves a little space. Don’t wait as long as I did to learn this lesson. Take time to nurture your relationships, celebrate your successes, and recover from your losses.
Take a break when you need it. Take it easy with the people around you when they need it too.”
It is a common situation and inherent to the human condition. Where we lived our youth under a rhythm, vision and perspective only to realize long after that things were not as extreme as we felt at the time.
It is the very reflection of the wisdom that the passage of time gives us, but in some cases the act of reaching this conclusion out of time is more pervasive than in others.
