Federal police officers have Wanne-Eickel main station arrested a man (42) who is said to have almost strangled a dog. During the arrest, the suspect injured an officer.
About the course of events: Around 3.30 p.m. on Monday, travelers alerted the federal police in Wanne-Eickel main station, the police said. A man abused a dog there with a leash, it was said. When the emergency services found the Gelsenkirchener in the connecting tunnel of the main station, the 42-year-old immediately reacted aggressively. The officials therefore referred him to the station. When the man pulled the terrier he was carrying with him on the leash in such a way that the dog noticeably couldn’t breathe and then threw it on the ground in front of the police officers, the police officers intervened and arrested the man.

According to the police, the man from Gelsenkirchen put up a massive fight. He punched and kicked them and injured a police officer in the face. It continued in the patrol car: the man spat on the emergency services and threatened them several times.
At the police station, the officers determined that the four-legged friend did not belong to the man at all, but had only been entrusted to him for a short time. Therefore, the emergency services informed the owners, who could pick up their animal at the federal police station in Gelsenkirchen.
A judge finally ordered that the man, who was drunk and known to the police with a blood alcohol content of 1.6 per mille, was taken into custody. The federal police initiated investigations against him, among other things, because of the attack on law enforcement officers, threats, physical harm and violation of the Animal Welfare Act.
