The Mexican stock markets ended the first day of the week with gains. The advance of the Mexican market occurred while investors await news on the US debt ceiling, at a time when locals expect that Bank of Mexico announce Thursday the end of a rate hike cycle that began in June 2021.

The leading index of the Mexican stock exchange (BMV), the S&P/BMV CPI, which groups the 35 most traded local stocks, gained 0.57% to 55,261.42 points. He FTSE BIVAfrom the Institutional Stock Market (Biva), advanced 0.63% to 1,144.09 units.

Within the benchmark, 20 of 35 stocks closed in the green. The titles of the mining company Industrias Peñoles led the advance, with 4.80% more to 282.14 pesos, followed by those of the airline Volaris, which added 4.16% to 22.02 pesos.
