Brandon Sanderson, author of Cosmere, is working on a deck-building game that will arrive in 2024

If we refer to the current fantasy landscape, few authors are up to Brandon Sanderson. The fantasy novelist has written a large number of books based on his particular universe, called Cosmereand now intends to make the leap to board games.

As pointed out from dicebreaker, Sanderson is involved in a project consisting of a deck-building game. This was revealed by the co-founder and president of Brotherwise, Johnny O’Neal, during Gen Con, stating that a “well-known designer” will be in charge of shaping the work. Of course, the person in charge of the publishing house that has adapted the Archive of Storms has not revealed details about his identity.

Nor has he specified if the cards that we will have in our hands will be linked to some Cosmere saga or if we are talking about a unique IP that is based on an idea by Sanderson. What is certified is that It will be in 2024 when this production lands and will debut alongside the tabletop RPG that Brotherwise is also developing inspired by their fantasies. Several former Wizards of the Coast and Fantasy Flight Games designers and Jiangshi co-creator Sen-Foong Lim are involved.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see decks based on Mistborn, the most popular series of all Sanderson’s published novels, which has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide. As for the books, it will be in November 2024 when Knights of the Wind and the Truth disembark as the fifth installment of the Archive of Storms.
