NEW YORK (AP) — Mikal Bridges had a career-high 45 points, including 15 in a row as Brooklyn extended its lead in a game that stayed close for 3 1/2 quarters before the Nets won 116 on Wednesday night. -105 to the Miami Heat.

It was the last game for both teams before the All-Star break.

In their third meeting since coming from Phoenix in the trade for Kevin Durant, Bridges went on an electrifying streak that could well have been sealed by the star he was traded for.

The Nets led just 90-89 before Bridges went to work with a series of slam dunks, 3-pointers and jump balls in three minutes.

This stretched the lead to nine points. And when another Nets player scored, it was Cam Johnson, also a recent arrival, whose 3-pointer made it 108-96.

Bridges scored 17 points in the final quarter to surpass his previous high of 34. He was 17-of-24 from the field, including 4-of-6 3-pointers and all 7 of his free throws. He complemented his performance with eight rebounds and five assists.
