According to the latest report from the MoD Intelligence services on the situation of the war in Ukraine, Moscow “has acted against some business interests” of Wagner’s owner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, since he launched a failed “riot” against the Russian Army. last June.
“There is a real possibility that the Kremlin no longer finances the group,” the MoD said today on its Twitter account, where it recalled that Wagner is going through a process of “cuts and reconfiguration” to “save on the salaries” of its staff. in these moments of “financial pressure”.
“If the Russian state no longer pays Wagner, the second most plausible payers are the Belarusian authorities,” the British intelligence report added.
