Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor Andre Braugher dies at 61

MIAMI.- He actor Andre Braugher, famous for his participation in the serie Homicide: Life on The Street y Brooklyn Nine-Nine, died at the age of 61. His agent, Jennifer Allen, confirmed that the cause of death was due to a brief illness, but she did not provide further details.

Braugher nation in Chicago in 1962 and studied at Stanford University. It was at the Juilliard School where she became involved in dramatic art, and in 1989 he rose to fame after participating in the film Glory.

The film was set during the United States Civil War. The actor played Thomas Searles, a free man who joins the first African-American regiment of the war. He shared the spotlight with Denzel Washington and Matthew Broderick. The film won two Oscars.

Andre later played Detective Frank Pembleton in the hit series Homicide: Life on the Street. The project was based on the book by David Simon and narrated the dynamics of the homicide unit of the Baltimore Police Department.

The series ran for seven seasons on NBC. Braugher’s role was celebrated by critics, and in 1998 he won the Emmy for best lead actor in a drama series.
