John Anthony Brooks could soon be back in the Bundesliga. As the ‘Bild’ reports, TSG Hoffenheim is currently working on signing the 29-year-old central defender.
The American has been under contract with Benfica Lisbon since the summer. In the current season, however, Brooks was only used in a manageable 233 competitive minutes. Most recently, the former Wolfsburg professional was no longer part of the matchday squad.
In Hoffenheim Brooks should help to plug the holey defense. Coach André Breitenreiter’s team conceded 27 goals in 17 match days. Most recently, TSG remained without a goal in October, beating relegation contenders Schalke 04 3-0.
Update (7:58 p.m.): According to the ‘kicker’ everything is now clear. According to the specialist magazine, Brooks is moving to Hoffenheim and will sign until 2024.
