Brownsville man allegedly punches wife and police officer between the legs

Juan Manuel Alonso faces several charges after allegedly leading a domestic violence incident in which he hit several police officers on different parts of the body, including the crotch of one of them, reported Martín Sandoval, spokesman for the Brownsville Police.

Alonso now faces several charges, including aggravated assault, assault on an officer, as well as domestic violence, resisting arrest and attempting to flee from an officer. The bail set this Monday, July 31, on the man amounts to $153,000.

This case began when officers came to investigate the domestic violence incident. “The officers entered, Mr. Alonso was in bed when the officers began to talk to him. They told him that they were going to arrest him for abusing his wife. In that Mr. Alonso took a hand light and hit an officer in the watch out,” Sandoval explained.

According to authorities, Alonso said he had been drinking alcoholic beverages and was intoxicated. Subsequently, the man not only hit the officer, but more people were injured. “He hit the other officer on the head with the same bulb. That’s where (that) the officers went to arrest him but he was able to escape. The officers began to follow him. When they got to the street, that’s where they could grab him,” added Sandoval.

Alonso had to be taken to the hospital as were the first officers who tried to stop him. It was there that the detainee hit another policeman in the crotch. “While he was in the hospital, another officer was with him and he told the officer, ‘I have to use the bathroom.’ As the officer was taking him to the bathroom, he managed to kick him in the middle of the legs,” the spokesperson said. .
