Bump "Swallows" a truck in Sagua la Grande street, in Villa Clara

A bump almost swallowed a truck while driving on a central street in the city of Sagua la Grande, in the province of Villa Claraaccording to a publication spread on social networks.

The user Yudrián De Miranda Bracero shared this Monday in the profile of Facebook “BUSES & TRUCKS ACCIDENTS for more experience and fewer victims!” images of a truck that overturned in a pothole, more like a crater, located on Martha Abreu street, between Céspedes and Solís, in the aforementioned city in the center of the island.

The images speak for themselves of the accident that fortunately did not leave any victims or injured, according to the comments of the publication, in which opinions rained down on the unfortunate state of the street where this event occurred.

“Nothing happened to the man,” said a comment referring to the driver of the truck that was left with the cab practically inside the hole or sinkhole, as a hole of these dimensions in a road is called in other countries, which was described by “the father of all potholes” on the island, by an witty Internet user in the publication.

Other users compared it with a water well, with a pond to raise clarias and even with the hole of a supposed earthquake in Sagua la Grande.

Also in a comment, a user said that the driver “was on something else” for not seeing the pothole in the middle of the street, to which another responded that “the street really sank.”

Until the time of writing this note, no official comment had been made on this incident, nor on the possible reasons why the driver could not avoid the huge hole, which practically swallowed him as he passed through the aforementioned street.

In the last week it transpired the witty reaction of a driver from Havana when he went through each pothole he found on his way.

Despite his expertise, this driver was unable to avoid continually falling into potholes on Neptuno Street, in Centro Habana, and at each jolt he muttered in a low but furious voice: “Long live Fidel.”

The island’s government recently recognized that the 75% of the country’s highways and roads are in a technical state between fair and bad.

Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, head of Transportation, presented the data before the Commission for Attention to Services of the Cuban Parliament and said that the government has been unable to stop the rate of deterioration of the roads, which increases every year.

The road situation in Cuba represents a significant challenge for the island’s government, since it directly affects the quality of life of citizens and the provision of essential services.

In recent years, the level of accidents on public roads as a result of the poor condition of the streets has been increasing, and even some motorcyclists have lost their lives due to a pothole.

Some holes are so big that in February a public transport bus was trapped in one of the 4th street of San Miguel del Padrón, in Havana.
