Borussia Dortmund and talents from England – that fits. Jadon Sancho’s success story has been topped once again by Jude Bellingham and is expected to leave the club for a lot of money in the summer. The big question: How does BVB absorb this enormous loss?
Possibly with Tim Iroegbunam. The English sports network ‘TEAMtalk’ reports on Dortmund’s interest in the right foot, which shows many parallels to Bellingham: Like the World Cup driver, Iroegbunam is 19 years old, English, grew up in Birmingham and is a central midfielder. In terms of systems and movement, both are very similar.
Juve too
Bellingham’s level of development is of course a few stages further. But development is part of the Dortmund philosophy. At least Iroegbunam has already made the breakthrough at the professional level. With the Young Lions, the eights were crowned U19 European champions last year. Iroegbunam is currently on loan from Aston Villa to the second division club Queens Park Rangers and is one of the undisputed regulars at headquarters there (17 games this season).
As such, according to ‘TEAMtalk’, the youngster has already brought Juventus Turin onto the scene – so BVB would not be unrivaled. Whoever negotiates for Iroegbunam’s services will have to deal with Villa. The ambitious Premier League representative certainly has no interest in letting one of the best horses from the young stable – tied to 2027 on top of that – go at a bargain price. Villans coach Steven Gerrard is said to think highly of Iroegbunam.
