The Minister of Youth and Sports, Abderrazak Sebgag, is confident of seeing Algeria host CAN-2025, given the major sports infrastructure our country has. Only, he demands from CAF more transparency in the choice of the country which will host the 35th edition of the CAN.

As everyone knows, Algeria has officially applied to host CAN-2025. The Algerian Football Federation submitted the application file on December 16, at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

In addition to Algeria, Nigeria, together with Benin, Zambia, Morocco and finally South Africa have also applied to host the 35th edition of the CAN. The least we can say is that our country will have serious competitors. While Morocco and South Africa are not to be presented, the other candidate countries have experienced proven progress in terms of infrastructure.

If Algeria could get ahead of its competitors, it is obviously thanks to CHAN-2022 which is taking place in our country. Indeed, the tournament continues in very good conditions. The new sports infrastructure and the good organization impressed everyone present, including the president of CAF, Patrice Motsepe.

Sebgag confident for CAN-2025?

But the Minister of Youth and Sports, Abderrazak Sebgag, is confident about Algeria’s candidacy file. The reason is simple, our country has all the means to host a continental competition.

“We have filed a solid case. Algeria is a country that has always given a good example of peace. All African countries have recognized it, in fact… I think that Algeria has all the means to host CAN-2025. We gave all our guarantees, now the ball is in the court of the Confederation of African Football. He will say, in a statement granted to the Algerian media.

The first manager of the sports sector in Algeria demands from the first instance of African football more transparency in the choice of the host country. “Only CAF must guarantee that the process of choosing the country that will host the 35th edition of the CAN is done transparently. Now if there is another candidate country that has better infrastructure than Algeria, we will applaud it in advance”. He added.
