Algeria will host CHAN-2022 from January 13 to February 4. She will have to succeed in the tournament in order to boost her candidacy to host the CAN-2025.

As everyone knows, Algeria has officially applied to host CAN-2025. The Algerian Football Federation submitted the application file on December 16, at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

In addition to Algeria, Nigeria, together with Benin, Zambia, Morocco and finally South Africa have also applied to host the 35th edition of the CAN. The least we can say is that our country will have serious competitors. While Morocco and South Africa are not to be presented, the other candidate countries have experienced proven progress in terms of infrastructure.

But the great advantage of Algeria is to take advantage of a good organization of CHAN-2022 in order to boost its candidacy. In other words, succeeding in the continental tournament will allow him to earn points compared to the other competitors.

What is Algeria’s advantage over competitors?

The secretary general of the Confederation of African Football, Véron Mosengo-Omba, landed in Algeria yesterday. He will visit the various sites that will house CHAN-2022, just a few days before the start of the competition.

Upon his arrival in Algiers, he gave a statement to the Algerian media. To this end, he says that the CHAN-2022 could be “a good point” for Algeria, in view of its candidacy to host the African Cup of Nations CAN-2025.

“It is the Executive Committee that will decide which country will host CAN-2025. CHAN could be a good point for Algeria, especially since the football and hotel infrastructures are of a very high standard, that’s very good. At the risk of repeating myself, COMEX will make its final decision based on well-established criteria”. Did he declare.

In the Algerian case, six stadiums have been selected. These are the stadium of Baraki and Douéra (Algiers), Miloud Hadefi (Oran), Mustapha Tchaker (Blida), Chahid Hamlaoui (Constantine) and finally May 19, 1956 (Annaba). The two stadiums of Tizi Ouzou and July 5, meanwhile, are on the list of reserve stadiums. There are also 32 training stadiums on which the 24 selections that will take part in the CAN will repeat their ranges.

In addition, the SG of CAF appreciated the decision of the high Algerian authorities to call Baraki’s new stadium “Nelson Mandela”. “Algeria’s decision to name the Baraki stadium in the name of Nelson Mandela is a good mark of recognition for this African leader. Algeria has demonstrated its attachment to Africa and its solidarity with the African peoples”. He added.
