Candidate Manuel Rosales says that he has spoken with the US about presidential elections

CARACAS.- Manuel Rosales, candidate of the opposition party Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT) for the presidential elections in Venezuela, said on Wednesday, April 3, that he is at the disposal of the Unitary Platform and makes available the electoral cards that support him if agreements are reached. before the July 28 elections.

“I agree with María Corina Machado being the candidate because she was the one who won the primary and I have maintained constant communication with the United States government, listening to proposals and plans for the presidential election. But, I totally disagree with the return of sanctions and that this will lead to a greater exodus of Venezuelans,” said the governor of the state of Zulia in an interview with the Unión Radio station.

Rosales’ registration took place almost at midnight on Monday, March 25, when the nomination period before the National Electoral Council (CNE) was about to close. The electoral body blocked the candidacy of academic Corina Yoris to replace the leader María Corina Machado.

The candidate Manuel Rosales insisted, on Tuesday, April 3, that the fight cannot be abandoned. For this reason, he spoke of making the cards recognized by the CNE available.

“That is a proposal not only for María Corina Machado, but also for the political parties. I am not a candidate to come second or to collect money and put up posters. I put the two cards on the table with a little bow,” he pointed.

Rosales was exiled in Peru from 2009 to 2015 and after returning to Venezuela, he was arrested by the Nicolás Maduro regime. However, months later he was released and has been able – backed by tyranny – to lead a political life in the country. Something that is prevented from the most staunch opponents like María Corina Machado.

Call to the opposition

On the other hand, the leader of the UNT party maintained that the path is not one of abstention.

“I am not going to appear as they say, only to validate the process. Those who believe that they are going to leave me with this problem alone are wrong from side to side, I am opposed to us blowing up the electoral route,” said Manuel Rosales.

He reiterated that his presidential nomination was made by Venezuela. “Now, everyone assumes their responsibility. Or is this the responsibility of Manuel Rosales alone? If everyone does not assume their responsibility, they will have to be accountable to Venezuelan society,” he said.
